Beinaheleidenschaftgegenstand: Dead Air (Non-Bio remix)
Last month the animated video for Dead Air went live. Two days ago the remix by Non-Bio also got a video; this version is longer than the original track and required additional animated footage, which is why it took longer to complete visually!
Both versions of the song are still available to download on the album Dead Cities via Bandcamp.

The video beetle
After a hiatus from circuit-bending projects, I returned this month with my first attempt at 'video bending'; the modification of a device to produce corrupted visual nonsense. This particular one began life as a Spiderman plug 'n' play TV game, which can be connected to the composite RGB input of any display device. Connecting it to a projector, this could be a useful addition to future Non-Bio gigs, generating live video as an alternative to pre-recorded loops.

Two new recordings you should know about
It pleases me to tell you today that Beinaheleidenschaftgegenstand have released a new album Dead Cities which you can download for free here.
You may notice that Non-Bio have a remix on there! A video for the track (the original and the remix) is in production right now and will appear online in the coming weeks.
By an odd coincidence, today also sees the release of Blueberry. This is the second album recorded by Gardner+Salnikov; a collaborative project between myself and MOX Salnikov. The music is all improvised and made using gadgets such as samplers, phones, a Kaoss Pad and circuit bent toys and some of the album was taped as we performed it to an audience with looped video projections at the Blueberry Bar in Shoreditch - hence the album's title.
This album is also free to download and you are invited to get it here:

Wicked Game
2015 has got off to a bumpy start for Non-Bio; I've been extremely busy for the last few weeks with some new day-job work that I've taken on and this has temporarily reduced time for spending on music. Also our one live booking of the year so far didn't go terribly well, thanks to a series of unforeseen and rather embarrassing equipment failures. Maybe this could be a blessing in disguise though, as it has prompted a radical rethink of how we should go about using our instruments in the future and our fabled noizitar may be put to rest and replaced with a 100% new version.
Our one triumph of the year so far has been this collaboration with Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand, which has been unleashed on the world today:
This track will appear on the compilation album That's Not Music! volume 2, due for handing out free at the next Resistanz music festival.

Last night's noise set at The Black Heart, kindly filmed by Marius. It as (arguably) an experiment and not an actual Non-Bio gig but I'm pleased with the outcome nonetheless and this should pave the way to doing more improvised noise shows.
I used a minimal equipment setup including - for the first time - my Tape-o-loopeeMatic. I made that gadget in 2010 when I first started circuit bending things, but stupidly I left it to gather dust on a shelf for the last four years. It sounded brilliant live!
Yeah, so next time maybe I'll include a sampler and prepare some more elaborate visuals. But there will definitely be a next time!

Cornerhouse Gig
Here we were on Saturday night in Cambridge, performing our (so far unreleased) song In The Future. The gig started badly with an incomplete soundcheck and we had to abandon the visual projections I'd prepared for the show. However, reviewing the video footage afterwards it seems perhaps things weren't so bad after all!
This might be our last live performance for a while. Only time will tell... We also got some video footage of the mighty Spucktute who were (unusually) perforforming with guitars on some of their songs. Autistic Ex were also fantastic but unfortunately we had to rush off and catch our train back to London before Last July took to the stage.
Also of note: about the same time we were on stage, one of the songs off our new album got played on Midlands Metalheads Radio (listen to the recording of the show here).

From Russia with 'meh'
Lots of Non-Bio news all of a sudden today:
The first review of The Game EP is now online at goths.ru. However I'm a bit disappointed the two reviewers only gave it 4 and 4.5 stars out of ten. I ran the article through Google translation tool, but much of it came out as gibberish so I'm not entirely sure what they disliked about my music. Oh well. I know there are definitely some Russians who enjoy my music and I'm still waiting to see how it fares with English speaking reviewers; I'll keep my fingers crossed they like it better.
I got some much better news a couple of hours later: a track I recently made called "Placenta of the Universe" is being included on a compilation album, released by Brownian (e)Motion. This track's a foray back into the rhythmic noise genre; a style which I embraced in my early days of making music but have mostly neglected since 2010. It was quite nice to work in that style again! I haven't yet had a chance to download the compilation but it's here on Bandcamp - hopefully I will be able to listen to most of it tonight when I get home.
The new video is still coming on: here's the first special effects test footage I've produced:
And finally: a new toy!

circuit Bending 3
Non-Bio's new band member passes its initiation.
Direct link to Youtube page: http://youtu.be/BvwPMfvwagY
Please note this video isn't a comprehensive how-to guide for circuit bending; it's more of a vague overview of what to expect. I've intentionally left some details out because half the fun of circuit bending is to research/discover the specific 'bends' for yourself but this might (or might not) set you off in the right direction.

Fans of Non-Bio's more experimental output will be pleased to know that we've recently teamed up with Tooth Kink (who we met at our Scream Lounge gig earlier in the year), DPRSSN and Matthew Anderson to create this two track EP (they're fairly long tracks).

You can download it from here:
Track 1: The Perfect example of Resurrection Failure
Track 2: Monotropic Societies
Enjoy!
